Where you will really see it
In flag and light signalling the pair C and N covers yes and no. By voice or radio the signal C is not used this way: you simply say "yes".
Careful with sound
Signal C belongs to the group marked with an asterisk in the code: when made by SOUND it may only be made in compliance with the collision regulations (COLREGs). By flag or light there is no such restriction.
