Where you will meet it

At the ship’s hospital on ships that carry a doctor (mainly passenger ships).

What it means in practice

A doctor sees patients here. Cargo ships carry no doctor: medical care is provided by a designated officer with medical training.

Legal basis

Annex to IMO resolution A.1116(30) (adopted 05.12.2017), table of emergency equipment location markings. Mandatory on ships built from 01.01.2019; older ships may carry signs per resolution A.760(18). Graphic pattern of the symbol: ISO 7010.
