Legal basis
Annex to IMO resolution A.1116(30) „Escape route signs and equipment location markings” (adopted 05.12.2017), table of means-of-escape signs. Mandatory on ships built from 01.01.2019; older ships may carry signs per the earlier resolution A.760(18). The requirement to mark escape routes: SOLAS II-2, regulation 13. Graphic pattern of the symbol: ISO 7010, the standard referenced by the annex.
This is not a legal text: in any doubt the current wording of the resolution and regulations decides.
