What it means in practice
A fire monitor: a station throwing a heavy stream of water or foam over the cargo deck or a ship alongside.
Legal basis
Annex to IMO resolution A.1116(30) (adopted 05.12.2017), table of fire-fighting equipment markings. Mandatory on ships built from 01.01.2019; older ships may carry signs per resolution A.760(18). Requirements for the equipment: SOLAS chapter II-2 and the FSS Code. Fire control plan symbols are a separate set (table 3 of the annex), not covered by this card.
